Refinery for petroleum processing

The refinery in Cienfuegos based on the Soviet technology was completed in 1989. It was in operation until 1995, afterwards its operation was suspen- ded because of the cancellation of collaboration with the main supplier of raw materials. A study of refinery reactivation and recovery of its operation was proposed in 2005.

The reactivation consisted of:

  • repairs of existing technology devices
  • repairs of actuators – pumps and valves
  • modernisation of field instrumentation
  • complete replacement of the original remote control of pneumatic regulation by modern computer control system

2006, the Cuban CUPET company made a selection of contractors for refine- ry reactivation in collaboration with the Venezuelan PDSVA company.

The ENERGO CONTROL Ltd. company presented their offer, which was ac- cepted by customer and integrated into the implementation of the project of refinery modernization in the following range:

  • complete replacement of field instrumentation – pressure, temperature, flow and level sensors and process analyses
  • complete replacement of cabling
  • deployment of computer control systems for the automatic control and protection of technology process in the following range:
    • DCS – decentralized control system
    • SPE – Fail safe system
    • CMS – safety compressor management system
    • BMS – safety burner management system
